Amerigo Vespucci, Locatelli: Inclusion, Sport and Talent Empowerment in Trieste

ROME, 6 October - For the second consecutive year, the Ministry for Disabilities will bring inclusion and talent empowerment to the Amerigo Vespucci tour, the oldest vessel in active service in the Italian Navy and a global symbol of Italy.

"After last year's success, when we involved more than 120 associations and welcomed over 6,000 persons with disabilities on board across 15 stages, we are continuing on this path to share a strong message of welcome and inclusion," said Alessandra Locatelli, Minister for Disabilities. "During the Trieste stop, which marks the conclusion of the North America Tour 2026 and coincides with the 58th edition of the Barcolana regatta, we will present a dedicated programme that showcases an Italy that puts people and their talents and abilities at the centre."

The programme will include guided tours on board and exhibition stands where associations will present their products and activities. Three panel discussions will also be held in the Conference Room: "Talents and Skills in Sport and Projects Promoted by the Ministry for Disabilities" on 9 October at 2:30 p.m. (focusing on the Velando project) and on 10 October at 10:00 a.m. (focusing on the Tip Top Mountain project). On 11 October at 11:30 a.m., the conference "Sport and Disability" will take place.

Focus will also be placed on art and creativity, with dedicated spaces hosted by Fondazione Bambini e Autismo per il Futuro ETS on 9 October, ANFFAS and Progetto Riabilitazione ODV ETS on 10 October, and Progetto Noemi on 11 October.

"The Trieste stop will be another opportunity to meet and exchange ideas and to demonstrate once again how essential it is to create opportunities that allow everyone to fully realise their potential," Minister Locatelli added.
